Operating principles
WZ1 INVERTED BUCKET STEAM TRAPS
Operating principles
The WZ steam trap is an inverted bucket steam trap. It operates as the steam or condensate filled bucket inside moves up and down under its own weight, shutting or opening the internal valve. As the valve is placed in the upper portion of the trap it prohibits problems with dirt or contamination.
The internal valve is always immersed in condensate and thus is always isolated from the steam, hence there is no erosion of the valve seat and its life-time is unusually long. The bucket which moves up and down is always immersed in condensate, due to this, this kind of steam trap operates without steam losses.
No adjustment or maintenance is required for a WZ inverted bucket steam trap. Carefully constructed and selected for specific applications, it operates in cycles with a blast discharge action and a shut-down phase. Closing time should take between ten and several tens of seconds. When shut down, the trap should not let through even the smallest quantity of "live" steam. When there is very little condensate, a trace leakage may occur (dripping effect). It means that a small quantity of condensate will flow from the trap (dripping) at the same time there will be a little secondary evaporation shown by small quantities of secondary steam.
Operational phases
1. Condensate flows into the steam trap.
The bucket et falls down under
its own weight opening the internal valve.
Both the condensate and air flow out.
2. Steam enters the trap and accumulates
under the bucket. Due to its growing
buoyancy the bucket moves upwards closing
the internal valve.
The trap is shut.
3. The quantity of the condensate trapped
under the bucket increases due to the steam
condensation effect. The steam cushion gets
ever smaller with the bucket's buoyancy
being still good enough to keep
the bucket in its upper position.
The internal valve stays closed.
3. The quantity of the condensate trapped
under the bucket increases due to the steam
condensation effect. The steam cushion gets
ever smaller with the bucket's buoyancy
being still good enough to keep the
bucket in its upper position.
The internal valve stays closed.
Steam tracers The Central European climate imposes special requirements concerning the protection of industrial transferring appliances In chemical plants, refineries, petrochemical and other plants in order to protect them from low temperatures. This kind of protection is guaranteed by steam tracing system, which is based on the trace lines.
Inverted bucket steam traps The WZ steam traps are inverted bucket steam traps. They operate thanks to difference in displacement of the float which is filled with condensate or a mixture of steam and water.
Wedge gate valves Wedge gate valves Gate valves are designed for general use pipelines in industrial systems. They can be installed on pipelines In a vertical or horizontal position and operate only when fully open or closed. Medium can flow in both directions. Typically we produce gate valves with hand drive.
