4. Characteristics
This device can be used for steam distribution duty (RFM) as well as condensate collection duty (ZFM). It is usually used on long pipeline systems, installations and appliances with steam tracing systems where steam, water, oil, etc. are used as heating mediums. It is made of modules which are fitted with type head/seat stop valves. All the elements of these valves are hard sealed (metal/metal). Built in stop valves hardly need any servicing. They are characterised by their long life. When needed all the elements can be replaced without the ZFM being dismounted from the installation.
When used for steam distribution duty the medium (steam) is supplied from the top. To ensure distributor drainage it is necessary to install a steam trap in the bottom part of the manifold.
When used for condensate collection duty, the condensate is usually carried away from the top part of the manifold. It is recommended then to use a drain valve in its bottom part. To avoid water hammers, when the manifold is installed in the vertical position, it is recommended to install the manifolds in a special way with a built in pipe which will work as a compensator.
5. Requirements and testing
Depending on the type of device they are submitted to different requirements and subjected to different tests.
